Driving directions

Jaaluni is located in the central region of Oman almost equidistant from Muscat and Salalah. The drive from Muscat is about 600 km (6.5 hours) and follows the main Salalah highway to Hayma, which is reached after about 500 km. From Hayma the route follows the Duqm graded road as far as the Habab junction where it heads north on a secondary graded road for a further 23 km. At this point the route is due east following a desert track for a further 23 km.

The above Route Map is not intended for navigation. You should carry suitable maps (1:100,000) and a Global Positioning System (GPS).

Mobile telephones will not operate in all parts of the Sanctuary at all times. For safety, visitors must adhere to the route agreed and given on the Application Form. This is essential to help ensure that Oryx Project staff and/or the Royal Oman Police are not called unnecessarily to deal with emergencies.

Vehicles and Visitors

A minimum of 2 (for safety) and maximum of 3 4WD vehicles per group is suggested. With 4 passengers per vehicle (for comfort) it is assumed that there might be a maximum of 12 visitors per group.
